Aletha Patchen
Aletha Patchen is a long-time Baja adventurer as well and was one of the first women to complete the Baja 1000 road race (on the Jeep team in 1968). When not traveling in Baja, the Patchens reside in Canebrake, a remote community in California’s Colorado Desert. Marvin Patchen is the author of the classic guidebook Baja Adventures by Land, Sea, and Air and the new book Baja Outpost: The Guest Book from Patchen’s Cabin. He has traveled by plane, boat, and various types of automobile all over Baja California, and both he and his wife, Aletha have raced in Baja road races. Patchen is retired and now lectures extensively on Baja California and the Anza-Borrego Desert Region.
