Harry W. Crosby was a writer and historian whose extensive explorations and archival research have established him as one of the significant authorities on the colorful past of the Californias. His most recent work, Gateway to Alta California: The Expedition to San Diego, 1769 tells of the historic trek which resulted in the founding of San Diego. Other works include The Cave Paintings of Baja California, Antigua California, Portrait of Paloma, and Tijuana: 1964. Crosby was at work on a book Javier Aguilar, which continues the story of Antigua California and Gateway to Alta California.
