Three days after his 17th birthday Paul Gulick joined the Marine Corps with the ambition of serving in the Korean War. He became a member of H/3/1’s 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon in May of 1953 where he served in the unit until October 1954. After nearly 24 years of service, he retired in August 1975 as a Master Gunnery Seargent (E-9). During his enlistment, he spent a dozen years working on the HAWK Missile System and then teaching about it at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. His contributions included being a member of the team that took the HAWK Missile into Vietnam on his first tour there in February 1963 and bringing it back in his second Vietnam tour from 1969-70.
